Our practices will be closed from 24 December until 4 January - however, you can still book to see us in 2021. Happy Holidays from everyone at Ocean and warm wishes for the New Year!
Most orthodontic braces consist of wires that are secured to metal brackets with small rubber bands. The brackets, in turn, are cemented directly to teeth. Not all braces are made the same, however.
Classic “colour braces” get their bright appearance from the elastic bands that hold the wire in the brackets. Metal braces are the cornerstone of orthodontic treatment and they are still popular today because they are reliable, economical and allow room for creative expression.
Most importantly, metal braces are suitable for patients of all ages. Whether you are eighteen or eighty, metal braces can help you enhance your smile.
The look of clear (or invisible) braces is accomplished with ceramic brackets and tooth-coloured bands and wires. These braces blend in so well with your teeth that hardly anyone will notice them. Clear braces allow you to enjoy the benefits of regular braces without the metallic finish.
Do you prefer to avoid brackets and wires, altogether? We also offer Invisalign® clear aligners as a treatment alternative. These clear aligners are metal-free and removable. Eating, brushing and flossing are easy with Invisalign®. Learn more about clear aligners by visiting our Invisalign® treatment page.
Braces can help you to feel more confident in the way your smile looks. The benefits of braces go beyond appearances, however. Straight teeth are easier to keep clean, and clean teeth are healthy teeth. Straightening your teeth with braces may help you improve your oral health and thus lower your risk of common issues such as dental decay and gum disease.
If you have crooked teeth, then schedule a consultation with one of our Ocean Orthodontics specialist orthodontists to learn how braces can help you.
The process of moving teeth can cause some mild discomfort. Fortunately, the unpleasant sensations are temporary and will pass as your teeth straighten out. At Ocean Orthodontics, we will help you select a gentle orthodontic treatment and give you tips to minimise any discomfort that may arise.
It is never too late to straighten your teeth. Nowadays, more adults than ever before are exploring the benefits of getting braces. Some individuals get braces for the very first time when they are 60 or even 70 years old!
We recommend that you have a consultation with our team to make sure that your teeth are ready for braces. Dental health is a major factor in orthodontic treatment, but age does not have to be.
The exact type of braces you have determines which techniques and tools you will use to clean your teeth. We will recommend a personalised oral hygiene routine that can help you keep your teeth healthy throughout the course of your treatment.
There is no single type of braces that works the same for everyone. The important thing is to choose a treatment that works best for you. Plan a visit to Ocean Orthodontics to have a free initial consultation where you can learn more about the best types of braces.
